Global Creative Industries

Music and Performance Arts

The music and performing arts industries are key drivers of the global creative economy, encompassing live performance, recorded sound, cultural festivals, and immersive media. In this stream, students explore music and other performing arts as both artistic practices and global industries. Elective courses cover areas such as sound design, global subcultures, mega-events, and arts administration, along with topics like music business, entrepreneurship, and the role of AI in the future of creativity. Through interdisciplinary learning, students also explore how music and the performing arts intersect with issues of gender, cultural politics, and emerging media. For their final-year capstone, students may undertake a performing arts–related internship, curate a performance project, or develop an industry-focused research or creative project.
